The National Church Institutions
The National Church Institutions (NCIs) exist to serve and strengthen the mission of the Church of England. Rooted in our Christian values and guided by a commitment to dignity, fairness, and inclusion, we work together to support the Church as it brings hope, compassion, and justice to every community it serves.
Our Values in Action
Our work is shaped by a shared belief: that every person is created in the image of God and worthy of respect, safety, and belonging. These values are not abstract ideals—they inform every decision we make and every interaction we have.
We are committed to:
-
Excellence - Striving for the highest standards in everything we do.
-
Compassion – Serving others with empathy, humility, and care.
-
Respect - Value the dignity, perspectives, and contributions of every person.
-
Collaboration – Working in partnership across the NCIs and the wider Church, recognising that we achieve more together.
-
Integrity – Acting with honesty, transparency, and accountability.
Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
We believe the Church’s diversity is one of its greatest strengths. The NCIs are committed to creating a workplace where everyone—regardless of background, identity, or lived experience—is welcomed, valued, and supported to flourish.
Our Diversity & Inclusion Promise means that we:
-
Actively seek out and listen to a wide range of voices and perspectives
-
Remove barriers that prevent people from fully participating or progressing
-
Challenge systems and processes that reinforce inequality
-
Hold ourselves accountable for creating an environment where people feel safe, respected, and empowered
We are building a culture where difference is celebrated, where dignity is upheld, and where everyone can contribute their gifts and talents.
Our Stance on Behaviour
Across the NCIs, we are clear about the behaviours that enable a healthy, safe, and supportive working environment—and equally clear about the behaviours that will not be tolerated.
We expect all colleagues, at every level, to uphold the highest standards of respect, professionalism, and integrity. Bullying, harassment, discrimination, exclusionary behaviour, or any actions that undermine trust and wellbeing have no place in the NCIs.
We speak up, we take concerns seriously, and we respond with fairness and clarity. We support restorative approaches where appropriate, but we remain firm: everyone deserves to work in an environment free from harm.
Who We Are as a Family of Organisations

Our Shared Purpose
We serve the Church so that it can serve the nation: nurturing faith, caring for creation, supporting the vulnerable, and building communities where hope can thrive.
Guided by our values, we remain committed to creating a Church and workplace marked by justice, inclusivity, compassion, and the courage to do what is right.
